So the true test was to see how their Mold & Mildew Stain Eraser performed against that traditional cleaner. If you have ever used those other strong “bleachy” brands, you know it works. It may cause you to pass out from the fumes, but it does get the mildew off the bathroom tile. Green Irene worked as well with a little extra mild scrubbing and I didn’t have to hold my breath. Overall I was really pleased with it as an alternative. Best of all, no strong ventilation or gas mask required!

Works great on the embarrassing ick in my shower. I appreciate that it doesn’t have the overpowering scent of vinegar that sometimes makes my eyes water when I’m cleaning the shower stall.

I happen to be a fiend about getting rid of mildew in my shower so I tried the Mildew Eraser on a couple of spots and it cleaned them right up.

It worked well on grout and also shockingly worked well on my washer's seal (which even with drying it out has to be cleaned of mold all the time)...It smells nice and not overwhelming.

I decided to put this one to the test in the bathroom, specifically in the tub/shower. We don't have a lot of mildew in there, but enough that it's noticeable. I sprayed and scrubbed with a brush (an old toothbrush is great for this) and the mildew was gone. The only left behind was the scent of citrus essential oil and safe air for my family to breathe while in the shower.

  • How do I mix the cleaner?

Just one refill packet will make 16 oz of cleaner, so just cut open the packet along the recommended line and combine the entire 1 oz concentrate with 15 oz of tap water in the reusable sprayer bottle.

Tip to avoid foaming: When mixing the concentrate from the packets into the 16 oz spray bottle, put the water in first… leaving room for 1 oz concentrate. This will avoid the foam generated by adding water after the concentrate. If there is concern that you will fill too much water, simply fill three quarters water, then add concentrate, then top off. Either way avoids the foaming you get when you add water ON TOP of concentrate.

  • Can I use the Mildew Stain Eraser in the washing machine to wash some mildewy towels and wash clothes?

I love a success story! I recommend letting the towels soak in the Mildew Stain Eraser, not adding it to the washing machine itself only because the amount of water in the machine will dilute the concentrate too much unless you have a “soak” cycle you can use. Here's what a customer wrote back following my pre-soaking suggestion:

"I had some wash cloths that smelled of mildew. I put them in the sink with two packets of Mildew Stain Eraser Enzyme Cleaner and just enough water to saturate the wash cloths, (without any extra water in the sink). I let them sit over night. The next morning I threw them in the wash machine and washed as usual. They came out smelling fresh and clean without any moldy odor. Yay! I didn't need to throw the wash cloths away!"

  • Can I use the Mildew Stain Eraser on my home’s exterior siding?

Mold and mildew growth on exterior siding can be a constant battle. Some homeowners even spray the whole house down with bleach a couple of times a year, yet the mold returns again, and again. Not to mention the damage that toxic bleach causes to plants, grass and water run off. You can use Green Irene Mildew Stain Eraser on exterior siding to see those stains disappear and customers notice that the mold and mildew doesn't grow back as quickly.

  • Can I use the Mildew Stain Eraser in our bathroom shower?

If a bathroom isn't well-vented, moisture can build up making it easier for mold to grow. Use our Mildew Stain Eraser to wash away mold and mildew, and then spray surfaces on a regular basis (about once a month) to stop it from returning

  • Does Green Irene Mildew Stain Eraser work on stone walls?

Mold and mildew can find a home in porous limestone walls, especially near a pool or hot tub. If there is some build up already, you may consider multiple applications of our Mildew Stain Eraser to get started (for example 3 applications over a one week period). For longer lasting results, you may want to seal the stone with a penetrating sealer and then monthly spray downs with GI's Mildew Stain Eraser to maintain it.

  • Can the Mildew Stain Eraser help with flood damage?

After you get the water out after a basement or other type of flood, you may find the concrete block, wood cabinets, and drywall covered with mold. You can spray everything with Green Irene Mildew Stain Eraser, brush it in, let set for about 15 minutes, brush it again, and then rinse with fresh water. Even the drywall will be clean.

  • Will the Mildew Stain Eraser clean my blackened concrete patio?

Spray the Mildew Stain Eraser all over the surface. For heavy or tough stains, brush it in and let set for about 15 minutes, then rinse with water. Since it's non-toxic, the water run off won't damage nearby grass or plants. After it's clean, you may want to consider a sealer to make the concrete less porous and then just spray with Green Irene Mildew Stain Eraser periodically to maintain clean.
